I started thinking about our health issues in this country, and how we fuel them. We won’t practice “Monogamy” with our own lives. Over 70% of our population is overweight and/or obese. We ALL know how to fix that problem. Proper nutrition and exercise, yet in general, we won’t do it. Yes, I know, there is always tomorrow, Monday, New Year, next week, and I’m too busy to care about my life!
According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2009–2010, almost 70 percent of Americans are overweight or obese. Children also have become heavier. In the past 30 years, obesity has tripled among school-aged children and teens.
Overweight and obesity also increase the health risks for children and teens. Type 2 diabetes once was rare in American children, but an increasing number of children are developing the disease. Also, overweight children are more likely to become overweight or obese as adults, with the same disease risks.
Overweight and Obesity-Related Health Problems in Adults Coronary Heart Disease High Blood Pressure
Type 2 Diabetes
Abnormal Blood Fats
Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome
Chronic Renal Failure
The list goes on. Of course when we do have problems, we blame everything else, except ourselves. We do not take responsibility for our health/fitness/lives. The government will fix it. Our doctors will fix it. Oh yea, we can take drugs. None of this works. It’s all only masks the real problems. Gluttony and laziness! Yes, we are both in this country. We even celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, and holidays by getting drunk, eating trash. Now I’m not saying don’t have fun and enjoy. But when will we realize that doing that on a weekly basis will kill us.
The Bible says there was none feeble among all two million Jews in the wilderness (Ps. 105:37). Well we did walk for 40 years, ate real food, and did physical work. My whole point of this is to get you to make better choices. You can stop all these diseases / illnesses. A client of mine said, “If we did what the Bible said, we would have NO problems.” He is right. But this isn’t a faith/religion lesson. It is a lesson in living, and what you can do to make your life and health better. We cause our health problems. You don’t catch heart disease. You can’t catch type 2 diabetes. We create these diseases by how we live. We even force our children to become unhealthy. Children are not born wanting candy bars and video games. We teach them to want them.
When I teach, do seminars and write, I use three different approaches. Science, common sense and the Bible. They all in general, do agree on how to live, be healthy, happy and wise. Here at BAER Fit, that is all we want for you. So don’t wait…start improving your life and your future now. Of course if you need help, we are here, and free to talk to.
