and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
So what is this about? We were in church Sunday and Pastor Dave talked about this passage. Basically it means that you teach your children the basics, the foundations, and then they make their own lives, but built on those basics. Sorry Dave, you did a much better job.
Now what does that have to do with fitness, health and nutrition? Here at BAER Fit, we teach you what works. Really works, not fads. So we will teach and train you in the basics that have always worked. You may stray at times, but you will always have the basics…that work.
I see such silly statements and ads for “Exclusive weight loss programs”, “30 day challenges”, “The greatest boot camp”, “6 Month weight loss”, "Women ONLY Secrets" and so many more. There is NO “exclusive“ weight loss. Everyone’s body loses weight the same way. I hope your life is more than a “30 day or 6 month” challenge or program. And as far as boot camps, they are not new. I was in boot camp in the 60’s. It was called the Air Force Basic Training! There are just 4 basic things you need to learn, that are the same with everyone.
- Calories in…calories out
- Balanced meals
- Type of foods
- Activity or exercise level
Next is learning to eat balanced meals and snacks. It’s not that hard to do. We all did it naturally once. But now we have fads and too much science for everyday life, and we’ve become confused. Each meal and snack should have protein, carbs and fats. Proteins are beef, fish, poultry, dairy, and some veggies. Carbohydrates are vegetables, fruits, grains, and a vast array of processed food stuff. Fats range from olive oil to that white stuff around the edge of your pork chop. Most all proteins naturally have fat in them. And some veggies do also. Try to have some of all three items on your plate at every meal. If you want percentages, at BAER Fit we use 50% or less in carbs, 25-30% proteins and 20-25% fats. But for now, just try to learn to get a little of everything.
Now another item of note, is the types of foods. I know they say, “A calorie is a calorie.” WRONG! 200 calories of donuts will not give you the same health / weight results as 200 calories of broccoli. Our bodies have hormone responses to different foods. There are chemical reactions to what we eat. Two of the worst are sugar and refined foods. Learn what you are eating.
And then there is activity level. By using your body, in every way, you will burn calories (fat) and build lean tissue (muscle). Doing this improves your body, your health, your fitness in every way. You cannot eat well, without exercise and get to be your best. You cannot exercise without eating well and become your best. There is no such thing as 70% diet – 30% exercise. It’s a 100%/100% deal. Get out there and exercise / move for 60 minutes a day. Your life will thank you for it.
When you want help getting it all together, BAER Fit is here. We will teach you how to get it all together, so you can do it on your own for the rest of your life.
Next time you read or someone says “Give me 30 or 60 days or 6 months on my exclusive weight / fat loss program” run away. God gave no one an exclusive to your life.
