an emerging option in the treatment and management of pain and movement dysfunctions
Dr. Chris Wilson, PT, DPT, CHES will be presenting on the topic of dry needling as a means of reducing pain and improving function. The first question you may be asking is: What is dry needling? Let’s answer that question and then talk about what it’s value might be for you.
Dry needling is often not the primary treatment and is almost always viewed as an adjunct to therapeutic exercise, postural changes and activity modification to combine acute pain relief with long lasting results. It is often initiated during a patient’s first visit given they are an appropriate candidate and other more conservative measures have already failed or if they have had a prior positive response to dry needling. It is important to realize that any time the skin is penetrated, as with dry needling, there is a small increase in chance of infection or other sequelae. It is important to discuss these risks with your healthcare provider to determine if dry needling is an appropriate option and to rule out any other possible contraindications.
So come on in on June 3rd at 630 pm to learn a little bit more…and bring a friend! We will spend the first ½ hour discussing dry needling, progress to a demonstration and conclude with a Q&A session. See you there.
